BOOK NOOK REVIEWS: The Big Sibling Getaway by Korrie Leer

TITLE: The Big Sibling Getaway

AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR: Korrie Leer

PUBLISHER: Albert Whitman & Company, 2020

SYNOPSIS: “When a new baby sibling cries, there’s only one thing to do: get away.

First came the boxes. Then the baby. Then the loud, nonstop crying! Desperate to get away, new big sister Cassie climbs into one of the empty boxes and sets off. She drives, she sails, and she soars…but she still hears whimpers. When she finally finds a place where she can’t hear the crying. Cassie realizes some things are more important than peace and quiet.”

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK : Author/illustrator, Korrie Leer has written a heart warming story about the tolerance of a big sister for a new addition to the family. Sometimes adjusting to a new family member can be too much for a sibling and big sister Cassie uses fun, creative ways to distance herself from a fussy newborn. Ms. Leer’s imaginative illustrations allows young readers to join Cassie as she tries to leave her responsibilities as a big sister behind. But the sweet ending of The Big Sibling Getaway reinforces the idea that no matter what, in the end, family is all that matters and having a younger sibling can actually be a good thing. A great addition to any library!

Sounds like a good book. I can’t relate, though. I took to my baby sister like a Cajun on crawdads.
