SYNOPSIS:

Through all the many ups and downs of a little girl’s childhood, Bear is there to provide love and support. Until it is time to say goodbye . . . and hello again.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK :   I love all types of picture books. Funny ones. Scary ones. Non fiction ones. But the ones that I like the most are the picture books that tug at my heart and tear me up reading them. Jonathan Stutzman’s story, Bear Is A Bear, is one of those types of books. Young readers may think the bear in this story is make believe until he slowly comes to life to become an important part of one young girl’s life. He helps her step from the world of childhood into the world of motherhood where she then introduces her childhood friend to a new generation of friends. And illustrator Dan Santat does an exceptional job of evoking just the right amount of emotions in each delightful illustration. A wonderful addition to any library!
