BOOK NOOK REVIEWS: A Piggie Christmas by Howard Fine

TITLE: A Piggie Christmas

ILLUSTRATOR: Howard Fine

PUBLISHER:  Hyperion Children’s Books, 2000

SYNOPSIS:

Certain traditions will always be associated with Christmas: caroling, trimming the tree, and of course, the long, impatient anticipation of Santa Claus. But few things evoke memories of Christmases past quite so poignantly as–PIGS?

This hilarious collection combines classic Christmas carols with Howard Fine’s unique piggies. The result gives new life to old favorites and is guaranteed to make you look at Christmas in a whole new light.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK :  When I was a little girl, I could hardly wait for the holidays to come around. While of course, I wanted the presents, I actually loved all the wonderful Christmas carols more. My older sister and I would sing for hours from an old holiday songbook Mother would bring out every December just for us. When I opened up A PIGGIE CHRISTMAS, I had to laugh at how illustrator, Howard Fine, brought all those childhood memories back in such a unique way as his whimsical piggies dance their way through the carols. I especially loved his take on The Twelve Days of Christmas. A great addition to any library!
