BOOK NOOK REVIEWS: Thanksgiving Is Here by Diane Goode

TITLE: Thanksgiving Is Here

AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR: Diane Goode

PUBLISHER: Harper Collins Publishers, 2003

SYNOPSIS:

As soon as Maggie’s grandma and grandpa get the turkey in the oven, bright and early on Thanksgiving morning, the guests arrive and the commotion begins: glamorous aunts, crying babies, acrobatic cousins, strange dogs, mysterious gifts, romance, friendships, “yackety-yak”ing and, of course, lots of wonderful food and fun.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK : Caldecott Medal winner and New York Times best selling author/illustrator, Diane Goode, has created a fun-loving, twisty tale of one family’s gathering together for Thanksgiving. Readers, young and old, will relate to the ding-dong announcing the arrival of distant relatives, and the yackety-yak of catching up on each other’s lives. Whimsical illustrations create page-turning fun as this family celebrates another Thanksgiving together. The only issue I have with this cute story is I never quite find out what is in that surprise package sitting on top of the stove! A great addition to any library!
