“On the farm, the critters knew,
At night while they were sleeping,
Past barn and pens,
Past lambs and hens,
A HAMPIRE went out creeping.”
Synopsis: When Duck can’t sleep one night, he decides to go in search of a midnight snack, but runs instead into the dreaded Hampire. Soon it’s a wild chase all over the farm as Duck wonders if he will make it home safely or will Hampire make a snack out of him!
Why you should read it: The author gives an incredible job of weaving a suspenseful story from the very first page while the accompanying illustrations are delightful. Just when you think you know how things will end for poor Duck, Ms. Bardhan-Quallen pulls out a delightful surprise ending. Children will enjoy reading or listening to this book over and over again. Great addition to any home library…
