WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK : There are some children book authors who become one hit wonders and only share one great story with young readers. Then there are others, like NYT’s best selling children’s book author, Drew Daywalt, who manage to create many attention-grabbing, smartly-written best selling stories to share with millions of young readers all around the world! When I first picked up THE LEGEND OF ROCK PAPER SCISSORS, I didn’t really pay attention to who wrote the story. I was stopped by the captivating artwork of rock star illustrator, Adam Rex. Later, as I watched my own students play the ancient game of rock, paper, scissors with their friends, I had to admit Mr. Daywalt had written a gem of a story. Illustrator, Adam Rex’s, beautiful artwork creates such a clever backdrop to a superbly written tale of ancient competitions and the beginning of some beautiful friendships! Definitely a great addition to any library!

2 stars…there are some things to like, but could elements have been stronger.
3 stars…this story will appeal to some readers but others might find it lacking something.
4 stars…strong story, nice illustrations, and should grab the attention of many readers.
5 stars…superbly written story, stellar illustrations, a must addition to any book lovers’ collection!
