The reviews are starting to roll in and we’re dancing a jig!

“Great children’s book Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2023

I really enjoyed this book! I was actually a taekwondo student around the age of the boys in the story and the descriptions of the school, tournaments, and their teachers brought back so many warm nostalgic feelings for me. I could imagine every sentence as I read. Beautiful job and a sweet book about perseverance and mentorship. ??” Liz

“Fun Read With Some Great Lessons! Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2023

The story is easy to follow and fun to read! The wonderfully descriptive story makes you feel like you know these kids in real life. My favorite parts are the lessons that are intertwined throughout the story. It was a great reminder as a parent, it’s okay to make kids brainstorm their own solutions and to also accept loses from time to time. The history lesson at the end was interested as well, I had no idea! Great read and highly recommend.” Courtney

A must read for new parents! Reviewed in Canada on May 16, 2023

This story is a modern parable; although fun, it gently teaches several critical life lessons.
Simply written, and fast enough to keep young readers engaged, The Warriors Three could be read by a junior reader on their own or used as a bedtime reader by a parent and be enjoyed by both. While age appropriate, the author has made the characters real enough to engage with emotionally. As events unfold, you share their successes, and failures, as they strive for greatness. The history lesson provided is a bonus for those interested in the background! This is a must read for new parents. The mentality it encourages is essential for growth, happiness and success in life.” Steve

Story Catcher Publishing will be opening its door to submissions later this Fall and we can’t wait to share all those lovely stories with the world!

We Have A Winner…and An Apology

I’m so excited to announce we have a winner for our February #PayABookForward FREE book bundle.

To have a chance to win the FREE bundle of children’s books, all people had to do was leave a comment on the original blog post, Facebook post, or Twitter tweet. People did that, and a winner was randomly drawn.

The winner of February’s book bundle is:

CAROLYN B FRAISER!

Carolyn, you will have until the 25th to accept your prize by providing a valid mailing address so I can send you your books. You can send your mailing address to my email, [email protected]. Congratulations and I hope you continue to share the love of books with others!

Now for the apology…

It seems I’m somehow not getting across how easy it is to add your name to the hat for a chance to win a signed book from one of my author friends. I’m sincerely sorry for any confusion. All you need to do is use your smart phone and take a picture of a book…ANY BOOK…you want to share with someone else.

A child.

A librarian.

A teacher.

Then post that picture to one of my blog, Facebook, or Twitter post during the PAY A BOOK FORWARD monthly event that I’m running every 10th through the 20th of each month.

It’s that easy!

Just take a picture of the book you want to pay forward and share the book love for a chance to win a signed book. This month’s book by the fabulous Lori Degman won’t be able to be given away, but will be held over for another month or giveaway.

I also need to clarify EXACTLY what I’m trying to do with this #PayABookForward year-long event. It seems some people didn’t understand all I want to do is give away books.

Many, many books.

Not to get more followers.

Not to add to my email list.

Not even to sell my OWN books.

I’ve been a voracious reader since I was four years old.

I LOVE BOOKS!

All books.

And my heart tells me I need to share that love of books with others. This isn’t the first time I’ve done it. I’ve given away over $175,000 worth of books to many, many people over the years.

Sometimes boldly.

Sometimes anonimously.

But NEVER for any other reason than to put GREAT STORIES in the hands of young readers.

So, hopefully, that clears up the confusion some people had. On February 10th, there will be another chance to win a different bundle of books for your school elementary library, local library, free libraries, homeschool group, or even your own home library. It’s my wish and prayer that word of mouth will help me get the word out about this #PayABookForward year-long event. Those free books are starting to pile up at my house and I want to shower the world with great stories all year long!!

We Are Here! We Are Here! We Are Here!

I feel a little like the good people of Whoville who are shouting at the top of their voices…WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE!

It’s FINALLY here! My PAY A BOOK FORWARD year-long event! A chance to add to your local library or elementary school library, homeschool group library or even your own home library. This is something near and dear to my heart. For the past 18 years I’ve have bought, collected, bartered, and received tons of books. I’ve run book drives every summer for the past 15 years. I’ve visited every new bookstore, used book store, thrift store, and yard sale within a 20 mile radius of my home over the years.

Collecting books.

Giving away books.

Sharing my love of books with the world.

I’ve been blessed with the ability to donate over $175,000 worth of books over the years so far, but it’s not enough.

Never enough.

So, I decided to create this PAY A BOOK FORWARD year-long event so I can share books with more people all over the country. And even more importantly, hopefully inspire others to pay a book forward as well! Every month in 2021 I will offer a chance to win a bundle of books, along with special BONUS PRIZES as well. Keep reading to see just how easy it will be to win some books!

For a chance at each monthly book bundle, you need to come back any day between the 10th and the 20th to leave a comment on my official January PAY A BOOK FORWARD blog post, or the one I share on my Facebook page, or on my Twitter account. Tag someone one in your comment so they can have a chance to win. Or tell me about your favorite book. Or suggest something I need to include in this giveaway. Anything that connects you to this post any time between the 10th and 20th of each month.

A random winner will be announced on the 20th and they will have until the 25th to provide a valid mailing address so I can send them their FREE book bundle. If I don’t hear from the winner by then, I will select an alternative winner who will then have until the 30th to contact me. If no winner contacts me by the 30th, I will then donate that month’s bundle to a local school or library in my area.

****************

There is also the opportunity to win the BONUS PRIZE each month. This month’s BONUS PRIZE is a cute book signed by my author friend, the lovely Tammi Sauer! QUIET WYATT is near and dear to my heart because I was the quiet kid growing up. As an adult I have excelled in martial arts, just like Wyatt, because this type of training doesn’t require a loud voice to achieve your personal goals. Readers will LOVE going on a “quiet” adventure to discover new friendships on a school field trip.

For a chance at winning this signed book, all you need to do is post a picture of a book YOU are planning to share with others during this PAY A BOOK FORWARD event on my Facebook or Twitter post any time between the 10th and the 20th of this month. Of course I would love for it to be one of MY books you pay forward, but ANY book you share with a reader is a win-win for both of you!

Words can be magical. They can lift a reader up and help them soar to new heights or even discover new worlds. Writers are the magicians who pull those stories from deep in their imaginations to sprinkle the world with the gift of words!

PAY A BOOK FORWARD January Book List

I’m excited to share with you the books I will be giving away for the month of January. Here is the breakdown of January’s list:

  1. Hop on Pop written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss
  2. Bear Stands Up For Christmas written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Janet Chapman
  3. Crankenstein written by Samantha Berger and illustrated by Dan Santat
  4. Incredible Ned written by Bill Maynard and illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz
  5. The Very Special Valentine written by Christine Tagg and illustrated by Maggie Kneen
  6. Little Critter Little Red Riding Hood written and illustrated by Mercer Mayer
  7. I Love You Daddy written by Jillian Harker and illustrated by Kristina Stephenson
  8. The Snuggliest Snuggle in the World written by Sarah Nash and illustrated by Daniel Howarth
  9. Finding Nemo by Disney/Pixar
  10. The Grouchy Ladybug written and illustrated by Eric Carle
  11. Look and Find Disney Princesses by Disney
  12. A Snowman Named Just Bob written by Mark Kimball Moulton and illustrated by Karen Hillard Crouch

A wide variety of books for young readers and a great addition to any library! I had the pleasure of reading all of these books…some of them old favorites. I grew up reading Mercer Mayer…actually one of the reasons I became a writer of children’s books myself…is because of great stories like these that encouraged me to dream.

A New Year Brings With It A New Word…

As a writer, I find myself fascinated with the written word. Whether simple or elaborate, for myself anyway, words have the magical power to life a spirit up or dash that same spirit on the rocks of despair.

Last year we became well acquainted with words no one I associated with used in their vocabulary prior to 2020…

Pandemic

COVID-19

Quarantine

But this is a new year, and I would like for a moment to look back to at least 2017 when someone chose to use a word to create a wonderful, yet to be determined, destination.

CODDIWOMPLE

It kind of describes my PAY A BOOK FORWARD year-long event.

I came up with this idea to share my love of books with educators, librarians, homeschool groups, and just any book lover as my way of supporting this KidLit community. What started out with a handful of purchased books, quickly grew into over 300 books bought or donated to FREELY share with others.

There will be a drawing run from the 10th to the 20th of every month for BONUS prizes like special autographed books, jewelry, and other goodies, along with at least 12-15 books beginning January 10th!

I don’t know exactly what other surprises 2021 holds for us, but you ALL will have a chance to come out a winner…

Of books.

Of BONUS prizes.

ALL YEAR LONG!

So who will go coddiwompling with me today? Come back Wednesday to see this month’s books and BONUS prize to be given away…

NEW YEAR…NEW WAY TO WIN FREE BOOKS!!

Happy New Year’s Day everybody!

I took a much needed hiatus the past couple of months to focus on the many spinning plates I was trying to juggle. Between pandemic, work, house, writing, and business, I was concerned I couldn’t focus 100 percent on my blog as my readers deserved! But now I’m back and have so many new things to share with you…

  1. PAY A BOOK FORWARD event! Every month throughout 2021, I will be giving people the opportunity each month to win a bundle of new and gently-loved books to add to their libraries.

FOR FREE!

I’ll share much more over the next few days and the event will run from the 10th to the 20th of each month. Librarians, educators, homeschool families, or just book lovers in general will have chances to add their name to the monthly drawing to possibly win a bundle of children’s books from board books, picture books, chapter books, middle grade and more! There will even be signed books and other special bonus prizes to be won!

It’s just my way of sharing my love of books and supporting the wonderful writers who make up our KidLit community!

Come back on Wednesday for a peek at this month’s book lineup!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

An Indie Author’s Journey: The Twelve Weeks of Lunadar Contest

I’m delving into the world of indie publishing. Some authors go the quicker route and use a source like CreateSpace or Kindle Direct to immediately get their books out there.

There’s nothing wrong going that route, but I’ve decided to take a different path.

****************

I love the fall. I’m allergic to the heat and sun, so the thought of cooler weather, cloudy days and falling leaves energizes my spirit like nothing else can.

Except maybe the upcoming birth of my latest book.

To celebrate the upcoming release of LUNADAR: Homeward Bound print edition on October 15, 2018, I’m throwing a twelve-week long celebration!

Wait! What?

That’s right! Just like the TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS song where someone receives a new gift every day for twelve days, I plan on showering twelve different fans with a token of my appreciation for being a part of my writerly world!

Beginning Monday, September 24th, there will be a different Rafflecopter contest each week to give away a weekly prize. All entries from each week will also be eligible for the grand prize on week twelve, which will run the week of December 10th so I can mail out the grand prize package in time for Christmas.

But, “What can I win?”, you may ask?

Well, here’s the run down of each weekly prize and the grand prize packet…

Week One

WEEK ONE…Three unique bookmarkers

Week Two 1        Week Two 2

WEEK TWO…Fairy House bird feeder

Week Three

WEEK THREE…”Dark Curse” by Christine Feehan audio book

Week Four

WEEK FOUR…$20 Wendy’s gift card

Week Five

Week Ten 2 (1).jpg    Week Ten 2 (2)
